Wave Power: How It Works [Overtopping:Wave Dragon]

SSG        Wave Dragon

Wave Dragon
This device is an offshore system comprised of two channeling arms and a reservoir/power center. The tethered system’s arms channel waves into the body of the system, which on the surface is essentially a reservoir. A series of gates open periodically to let the reservoir water flow down a channel where it passes by a hydroelectric turbine before re-entering the ocean. The electricity is then fed back to shore via a ground laid cable.

The video below provides a good overview of how the Wave Dragon works and talks about its commercial success.
