Wave Power: How It Works [Buoy: Aqua BuOY]

Aqua BuOY        CETO        PMLG Buoy

Aqua BuOY
The buoy is mounted above a piston contained inside a tube, open on both ends, with a hose pump attached to each end (a hose pump is a steel reinforced rubber tube that pressurizes and pumps water as it is stretched and compressed). As the buoy bobs, seawater is pushed up and down the tube causing the piston to move and extend or compress the hose pump. The pressurized water is sent through an electric generator before being returned into the ocean. The electricity is sent back via cables laid on the floor.
