Wave Power: How It Works [Buoy: PMLG]

Aqua BuOY        CETO        PMLG Buoy

Permanent Magnet Linear Generator Buoy
This device is comprised of three main components: the buoy, spar and the float. The spar is a long, stationary shaft with electric coils wrapped inside that is tethered to the sea floor. The buoy sits atop the float, which slide together up and down with the passing waves. The float contains magnets, which slide back and forth over the electric coils housed within the spar. This movement between the magnets and coils induces voltage and electricity is produced. The generated electricity is sent back to share via ground-laid cables.
