Wave Power: How It Works: Oceanlinx

Limpet        Oceanlinx

Oceanlinx
This offshore device is basically a large chamber with an open bottom, half submerged in the ocean, and a large, open tube/vent mounted on top. As waves pass the device, the water level of the chamber rises and falls and in doing so pushes air out of and sucks it back, respectively, into the vent. Enclosed in the vent is a turbine, which generates electricity as the air moves back and forth through the vent. The electricity is then fed back to shore via floor-laid cables.
