Hydroelectric: How It Works

Hydroelectric Power uses the movement of water (generally rivers) to spin a turbine, which generates electricity. The constant cycle of moving water creates a stable source of renewable energy, where systems can range from 100kW home/farm systems to commercial power plant sized systems in excess of 30MW. There are two types of hydroelectric plants, one that requires dams and the other that does not.
