Anaerobic Digester: How It Works

Put simply, anaerobic digestion is a series of processes in which different bacteria break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen. It is widely used to human, animal and organic wastes because it reduces the volume of landfill-bound waste and reduces methane and carbon dioxide emissions, while producing biogas for use in energy production and a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer by-product.
