Biodiesel: Who's Involved [Africa]

Africa       Americas (Ex. U.S.)       Asia       Australia       Europe       U.S.

As would be expected, Africa is the farthest behind in the development of biodiesel. That said, a number of countries, including Kenya, Mozambique, and Senegal are working to grow jatropha as a way to both generate fuel for internal use and export. South Africa uses a mix of available feedstocks, including waste vegetable oil. Presently, there are very few biodiesel production facilities due to capital expenditure cost constraints and recent feedstock plantings.
